Caring with a difference
at Kirk House

What a Celebration!

One of the residents at Kirk House celebrated her 100th birthday last week! And what a day she had, with visits from some VIPs in the morning followed by a wonderful birthday party with the residents and staff of Kirk House. She even had two birthday cakes! Mary Hood (known as Min to her friends) was born on VE day 100 years ago and says that she does not smoke or drink alcohol and has always enjoyed a healthy lifestyle. “Clean living and good food,” is the key to a long life, she said.

Mary is an incredible woman who lived through two World Wars and faced many obstacles in her life but she remained "compassionate, humorous and beautiful" as described by her loved ones. Her story was even featured by Belfast Telegraph and it is definitely worth reading.
